WEEK 6: MPPP1373(VISUAL TECHNOLOGY PRODUCTION) (16th OCTOBER, 2014)

     week 6 was a continuation of series of lectures and presentations on sequences of concepts and practicals related to theories and  skills of design and production of visual static media.
The focus therefore, was more on photography and digital graphic field in line with the course outline.
      As usual, the class session for the day started at 4:00pm with the first presentation by a team of students.
on the following topic:

LIGHT AND LIGHTING SYSTEM



                                                                   


The presenters took the class through a detailed discussion and explanation on light and lighting system.
concepts discussed include:

  • use of flash
  • speed-light
  • creative lighting technique flash brown ,to make it bigger using a card 
  • how to use flash and many other aspects of light and lighting system

other aspects discussed in the presentation were advantages and disadvantages of external flash

The advantages include: 

 Lighting looks more natural.

 Varied possibilities to bounce light off walls or ceilings.
  • Bounced light is fun to play with as you bounce it off ceilings or walls and depending on the colors of those or other things you bounce it off your subject will look different.


At the end of the first presentation,  the lecturer and mentor of the course, DR Shaharudin bin Md Salleh gave a chance for other members of the class to ask questions and make meaningful contributions to the topic presented.
The Dr. also gave further clarifications on how to enhance the lighting system using personal creativity and other available means of light and lighting system 



2ND presentation:
This was on the topic 
Image composition:
The presenters devoted time to discuss the concept of composition as it relates to photography.
concepts discussed include:
Image composition:

   . Meaning of image composition

  • Basic elements of good composition
  • Visualizing a concept in your picture,
  • How pictures talks
  • How picture determines purpose


   Simplicity:

  •  more fucus
  •  single focus point or single center of interest.
  •  using secondary subject
  • arranging your subjects
  • breaking the rule
  • creating shape
  • creating perspectives with line 

     Shooting techniques

  • high angle
  • low angle
  • panning
  • silhouse
  • zoom in zoom outcreative lighting system panorama
At the end of the presentation, the course lecturer gave opportunity to the members of the class to ask some questions and make some contributions. Thereafter he gave further clarifications on the topics discussed.
